Trump Trial
In the latest testimony of the Trump Trial, Micheal Cohen took the stand and blatantly exposed his old boss. Cohen confirmed that Trump had asked him to pay off Stormy Daniels with an impressive sum of 130,000 dollars in exchange for her silence.
He went on to explain the intricacies of the deal, stating that it was him that paid her at the time and then later when Trump was voted into office, Cohen asked for his money back. Trump then agreed to monthly payments to reimburse Cohen for dealing with his problem.
Motivated to dirty Trump’s image, Cohen continued to detail Trump's shady actions regarding numerous women. While Cohen was on the stand, he connected the dots between much information the jury had received during the trial and outright confirmed the main transgression the court was trying Trump for: hush-money payments.
Cohen also spoke about the shady campaign Trump ran on his way to the Presidency during which the two of them worked closely.
Cohen’s aggression is easily explained. After committing legal wrongdoings for his boss who made him feel powerful and important, Cohen was tried for several Federal crimes and ended up pleading guilty. He has spent over a year in Federal prison. Betrayed and belittled, Cohen is hungry for revenge against his former superior who did not protect him when he was in the same position.
Although Cohen’s testimony confirmed Trump's illegal actions, his reliability will be heavily scrutinized as the court decides how to view his testimony. He has been called a maniac, ready to blow at any moment, aggressive and brash. However, at the testimony he was calm and direct.
He will take the stand again today and the defense will surely try and rattle him.
As the trial unfolds and more information comes to light, it seems Trump is being backed into a corner, unless he can somehow find his way out and convince the Jury of his innocence.
